This past week has been busy finishing up the unpacking and getting to know the people of the church. I just want to show you this picture I took right after we came home from church. They had a pantry shower for us on Sunday and this was most of the food they gave us. This doesn't even include the gift cards. How awesome is that? They have really taken care of us since we have gotten here. We feel so blessed to be here!

I also received my birthday gifts from my parents this week.

She also included a vintage 1940s pattern book for potholders and a couple more potholders which I didn't get good pictures of yet. Thank you Mom & Dad!!

And just to prove that I have been crafting lately...

I have been working on some scarves just to use up some of the yarn I have had sitting around. They aren't anything special but I have found it very relaxing to just do rows of single crochet without having to do much thinking and complicated stitches. It's almost addicting! I'm already on my third scarf! :)

It's my birthday!

Today is my 24th birthday! This morning I was woken up by Seth and my cat singing happy birthday. It was super cute! At the end of each line Kizzy would meow. That definitely made my day!

Then Seth made me a nice breakfast and we just finished a very delicious lunch also made by Seth (garlic brown sugar chicken). And tonight we are going to Applebees for dinner and dessert. Then hopefully we will go see a movie. It's a really low-key day. It's been so nice!

With all the packing and stuff, it's just been super busy. Which is why I haven't blogged a lot lately about crafts. They are all packed away! As soon as we are moved in, I am hoping to get back to some crafting! I have a few ideas already for the new home that I can't wait to try out! I can't wait to move already! This week is crawling by so slowly!

Best Day Ever!

I just had a wonderful day with my husband in Springfield. We went to Big Mommas for sandwiches for lunch. Then we went to the Red Velvet Art shop and got all kinds of goodies!

Then we went around all the vintage shops on that street. I found this really cute brooch...

Then we had to stop at Starbucks because Seth has been craving his pumpkin spice latte... which he wrote a love letter to here... http://myoutstretchedhands.blogspot.com/2009/10/dear-pumpkin-spice-latte.html Silly! And I got my mocha frap... YUM!

Then on the way home we stopped at a flea market and I found this nice bowl for 75 cents

and all this yarn for about $7!! Lovely!

We also stopped at Oceola Cheese Factory because that is Seth's favorite place. He found himself a couple cheeses.

It was a great day spending time with my husband and shopping. Thank you Seth!

Sorry it has been a few days since I last blogged. I have been busy but haven't really had anything to blog about! Like I wrote in my last entry Wednesday was Seth's birthday. During the day we went to an Amish store and bought some blackberry jam (can you tell his favorite is blackberry?) Then later we had his brother over and cooked out while they played Monopoly on the Wii. Then his dad and nephew came over for a little bit. I think he enjoyed it. It was a nice relaxing day.

The gift I bought him came in the mail today! I bought him a coffee sleeve for his coffee. On Saturday before our garage sale we were up way too early for us and he was making coffee to help us wake up. He said he wished he had a sleeve for his because his was hot. So I found him one on Etsy in cestjoi's shop. I think it is very cute. She did a wonderful job on it. And it got here pretty fast. I ordered it on Monday and it arrived today on Friday. She has a few other coffee sleeves as well as some adorable purses & bags in her shop. Maybe someday I will have to get myself one! Check out her shop here!

Happy Birthday Seth!

Today we were really bored so Seth drew a picture of this alien-looking boy and asked if I would embroider it and make a pillow with it for his birthday tomorrow. I really hadn't done embroidery or sewing before so I wasn't sure but why not try? So I went to our local yarn shop and got some embroidery thread and started working on it. I just finished making the pillow. It looks pretty pathetic. And the embroidery isn't all that great either. That is what happens when you try to make things up as you go. However Seth really loved it. (I gave it to him early.) That's all that matters right? Good thing he has another small gift coming in mail!

A couple parts of the embroidery kind of came loose as I was stuffing the pillow. It's also lopsided. And you can see the loose threads from the other side of the fabric so if anybody can give me advice for next time let me know in the comments! I would really appreciate some advice! Like I said I pretty much made everything up as I went! ha!

Anyway in about an hour and 15 minutes Seth will be 26 so Happy Birthday Seth! <3

Tomorrow = blackberry cobbler and ice cream... yum!
