Weekend Thrifting

This weekend we got some neat thrift finds. I apologize for the crappy quality of photos but it's night and I didn't want to wait until tomorrow to post about them. Yesterday we found an apron for $1 that I am hoping to add some embellishment to it to make it cute! We found a cute rooster wall decoration for $1, a doily for $1, and 3 cameras. The 2 white ones were $1 each and the brown one was $2. And today after church we found this lamp for $5. I love it! I am going to put it on my night stand. I am hoping to find another one similar to this one for Seth's side.

Does anybody know anything about these cameras? I've never used a polaroid before and I don't know if these work.

such amazing finds!!!! i think you would have to put film in the camera and test it out. but that might ruin the roll if it doesn't work... so i'm not sure. sorry. :( would you be willing to sell one of those cameras, though?!?!

gosh i'm jealous of missouri thrifting. <3

unfortunately, polaroid film got discontinued.
you can occasionally catch it for sale on lomography.com and amazon.com (but they can get pretty pricey)

i have no idea however how to test them without putting the film in them.
when i bought mine, it had an empty polaroid film already in it so i turned it on and it worked but obviously no film was gonna come out of it :/

try doing a bit of research perhaps?

Polaroids stopped making film and its really hard to find any now which kind of sucks. They used to sell the film for them at Target but they stopped. I'm not sure if this is true or not but I heard the last batch of film that was released for sale has expired. So I'm not sure if you will be able to actually use those unless you happen to get lucky. =/

I have a Polaroid and but I haven't been able to find any film where I live.

Good luck!

Love the lamp! You found some amazing things! I have a white polaroid camera and I have not used it due to the film shortage. I can't afford to spend what they want for it on ebay. In the meantime, it is looking pretty cute in my craft room.

Those cameras take SX70 film I think... not for sure... I do know you can get film on ebay but for a high price. You can also find film in other places online. The film pack is also the battery so you won't know if they work until you get your hand on some film. Great finds though,. :)

Such awesome thrifty finds - I can't believe the price you got for that SX-70!! I usually test polaroids with an empty film pack and a spare darkslide (the piece of card stock that protects the film from light until you load it into the camera). I bring them with me when I go thrifting so that I can test any cameras I find. If the camera makes the proper noises when I load the film pack and properly ejects the slide, I'll buy it.

Of course, to do that you'll need to start with a full film pack and shoot it. The Impossible Project's new PX-100 is what you want for these cameras.
