Frustrated

[weheartit.com]

I've been pretty frustrated lately with my lack of ability to make friends. I've always been shy and I've always had a hard time making friends but I always seemed to have one or two good friends growing up. However after leaving college and getting married I have been taken out of that place where making friends was somewhat easier. Now I am hardly around people my own age. My husband is a wonderful friend. He is the person I can tell anything to but sometimes I miss having that female friendship. I have a best friend but she lives so far away. I miss her and I cherish our friendship but it is still difficult to feel like I have no one to spend time with, have coffee with, or shop with. I know that God will bring someone into my life. I just need to be patient.

I love the blogging community. I feel like I know the women whose blogs I read daily as if we were friends. However I don't feel like they know me and that is because I am terrible at initiating friendships and relating to others. I hope to eventually be able to call these women friends. It will just take time I suppose.

I don't mean to make this such a sad post. I've just been frustrated frequently and felt that writing about it here might help me feel better.

Anyway on a lighter note I have started putting up Christmas decorations. I know it may be too early but I just can't wait! Christmas is a wonderful time! I think more people would enjoy it more if they just had the right attitude. It doesn't have to be stressful if you don't make it that way. It is a wonderful time for family!

I've been working on Christmas ornaments and cards for swaps I have joined! I wish I could show pictures but I don't want to ruin it for those who will be receiving them! I may put the cards in my shop though because I just love them! They turned out better than I pictured in my head! I love that!

Here are some pretty pictures that have been inspiring to me.

I'm the same way! I was always so incredibly shy, and even though i've lost most of that shyness, i still have a hard time initiating friendships! Especially now that i don't have a job, my husband is pretty much the only one that I have contact with. I do have a few girl friends, most living in other cities so it's hard to get together with them, but i do have one that i see on a regular basis, but only really because she works with my hubby and i drive them both to and from work everyday. I've met so many great people on etsy and blogger, it'd be great to get to know them all better, but again, most are very far away :)

Hi! I completely understand you! I have some great friends but...they live so far from me...
so...we can chat by phone, by email...but...we can't go to do shopping together or take a cup of coffee or work together to some new crafting ideas and...this is sad and frustrating too...
I miss all this too...
But...we have to try do don't feel too much down...
Hugs!!!

Hey Carol, you know what.. I felt as though I was reading about myself while I was reading this! I always have this idea that Asians(like myself) are more reserved as compared to Westerners!

I don't make friends easily but I love making friends with shy people as I feel we can connect better. If you don't mind having a friend from so far away, I would love to be your friend! :)

I really love the button picture!

Making friends might be easy for some, making good friends is what is hard to do :-)
I'm the opposite I throw myself into friendships which means I have a tendancy to get used and sometimes hurt, I must be a bit thick though because I carry on doing it... lol!

i am exactly the same--all but one of my really close friends live far away--and i only have three in total!

I think that the friendships worth having are the ones that take the time and initiative to stick around no matter what the difference. and though i would like to be more sociable and outgoing, i'm kind of coming to terms with the idea that i am just not that way--but that's okay!

I remember being young and newly married (at 18) AND moving to a completely different state. It was difficult and depressing, but trust in God that he will fulfill your need. After the initial year of marriage and adjustment I began to find myself taking broader steps to open up.
Keep yer chin up girl!!

It does get harder to make new friends as you get older. I totally understand that.

Love the hamster/gerbil in the cupcake holder!

Carol Anne, my new friend! I am so sorry you are feeling this way, but I too can definitely relate. Friends that used to be close (in distance and relationship-wise) are now far away. It's a time to grow more as ourselves, but also to seek out new friendships, meaningful ones. :-) I just want to let you know that your comments on my blog always make me smile, and I really appreciate them. I consider you a friend of mine and I look forward to getting to know you more!

May God give you comfort and confidence. :-D

I just discovered your blog and read this post. I totally get it. You know it's funny how much harder it is to make friends the older you get. I feel your pain and I would totally invite you out for coffee and some girl talk if we lived near each other :D

Carol,

I completely understand. It's been hard to make friends for me as well. I know how shy you were too so I can imagine! I love you girlie! If you EVER need anyone to talk to I'm always available....although my internet is down so I can only get on (very little) at work (tsk tsk). :) I hope things are going well for you though. BTW, your blog is AWESOME!!!
