Weight Loss Challenge

This may not interest some of you but I think that posting on here will keep me accountable. There are many people who inspire me everyday but the one person that inspires me to become healthier is Seth. Seth's journey started as a simple goal at the beginning of the year, to run 1010 miles this year. He has seen so many benefits from working on his goal. He has lost a lot of weight and he blogs about this journey in his Fit With A Purpose (also known as 1010 in 2010) blog. He started a weight loss challenge on facebook. To enter we all put in $10. The person to lose the highest percentage of their weight after 6 weeks will win the money that was put in by all the challengers. There are 13 of us participating. Each week we have a "weigh-in." We must post a photo of us and of the scale. I have decided to also post mine on here so you can help cheer me on and also to keep me accountable. I don't want to look like a quitter so you guys will help me to keep going!

Here is my week 1 photo. Please be nice to me! I was so scared to post this on here. It is really out of my comfort zone but I really think doing this will keep me going.

you go girl! only when i abandoned the "diet" mentality in favor of an overall healthier lifestyle did it actually work in the long run - you can do it, and kudos for being so open and sharing!

Carol - IT CAN BE DONE! I have lost almost 20 pounds since last summer. Remember that it's about getting it off and keeping it off, so you must change your eating habits permanently as you go!

Good for you! I admire your courage completely!!! I don't even weigh myself, it scares the poop out of me! I just know that I need to lose about 40 or 50 lbs to be at a healthy weight for my height. Keep up the good work, you rock!!!!

This is so cool! I love how you're tracking it online...I was thinking of doing something along these lines also. You can totally do it! & I think the support on here is going to help motivate you! Remember, if you're doing any kind of strength training...lower weight & more reps to trim for the nice girly muscles! Good luck! ♥

I agree Carol this was way out of my comfort zone. I really disliked the photo and showing everyone how much we weigh. But I agree it will motivate us and keep us accountable. You can do it Carol. You go girl!

Aw yeah! THIS IS GREAT! It's amazing that you conquered that fear. I find it to be somewhat liberating because it's like the first step to change. Just wait until you compare this picture with the final one. I'm positive you'll see a difference!

I'm rooting for you!

congrats on starting a healthy journey of your own. With your husband by your side both of you will be able to feed off each other and provide the other with the motivation to get fit and healthy. Congrats on that!

You look great, good luck on the challenge!

Way to go! I follow Seth's blog, and he is so obviously proud of you and impressed by you that I couldn't help coming over here to cheer you on! I know how hard it is to post a picture of yourself when you don't like the way you look or feel - I posted an exposed pic of myself last week. I can tell you it a good step towards better acceptance, though. You are beautiful - way to go, and good luck on the challenge!

Hey Carol! I follow your husband's blog and after seeing his post about you, I of course wanted to come and show some support! He is obviously so proud of you for doing this and I am too! It takes so much courage for a woman to announce her weight for the whole world to potentially see. Take it from me, I know it's stressful. BUT YOU DID IT! Which only goes to show that you have the strength and confidence to win this thing! Kick some tail, girl! YOU CAN DO IT!
LOVE the nail polish by the way! Super cute and summery :)
